Suggested reading materials: · Easy-to-read books in the English Learning Center (some of which have tapes to accompany them). · Newspapers (especially easy-to-read papers such as News for You). · Magazines (Reader’s Digest or any magazine that interests you). · Young adult books (the main Fremont Library at Stevenson and Paseo Padre) Get free tutoring in English (one hour per week) at the English Learning Center in Hyman Hall. Get involved with other people who don’t speak your language. · Sign up for a Conversation Group at the English Learning Center in Hyman Hall. · Participate in a group that uses English (a school club, church group, etc.) · Create your own group (for study, conversation, dinners, etc.)
· Volunteer at a local school, church or charity organization.
Practice English by watching TV and listening to the radio. Record good programs from TV; watch them first without captions, and watch them a second time with captions.
